First Antiphon (5-Part SATTB)
Original 5-part (SATTB) version, as performed by APOLLO5 on the Draw Near album.
Drawing on Byzantine chant traditions, I explored the flexibility of texture and vocal roles, particularly through varied placement of the ison - sometimes above, sometimes below the melody. The voices shift and rotate as the verses unfold, creating a layered, living sound. This approach reflects the nature of the text itself: a communal plea for salvation, gently supported and enriched by the intercessions of the Theotokos.
